Basic Information

New to OCDRT on 7/28/2018Wiggles is around four years old and 38#. She was found as a stray and when she tested positive for heartworm the shelter requested rescue assistance. She was a very good passenger on transport and loved meeting new people. Wiggles introduced to the resident adult ACDs fairly well, but she was a bit nervous, so we are taking it slow. She spotted the cat, and was interested, but backed off with a voice correction. Wiggles has a vet appointment 7/30 to start undergoing her heartworm treatment. She will remain in foster care until she has completed treatment, is medically cleared, and is spayed and up to date on all her vaccinations. Wiggles will learn crate training, basic obedience, foundation skills, and socialization skills.

Please check back as we get to know her over the next 2 – 3 weeks.

Updates

July 31, 2018

Wiggles had her vet exam and started her treatment injections. The good news is her symptoms allowed for her to do the 2 injections now, instead of 1 now and 2 in 30 days. Her foster family will pick her up tomorrow & start her crate rest and keeping her quiet for the next 4-6 weeks. Her heartworm test is scheduled for 8/29 and her spay is scheduled for 9/4. Wiggles has shown extreme interest in the cat & at this time we are recommending a home without cats or small animals. Check back for updates.

Wiggles had a follow up exam and heartworm test. Good news is she is cleared for her spay on 9/4! Her hw test was positive which is normal because the antigens can take up to 6 months to clear from her system. She will need to be on heartworm prevention monthly for the rest of her life (which all dogs should in most of the US). Wiggles ADORES humans and is always found right at her foster families feet. She is a bold ACD so another dog needs to be laid back and not react to her pushiness, as she is learning this is not acceptable behavior, She is doing well with the resident ACDs, she just prefers her humans. She is not good with cats, at this point she will harm a cat. If you have experience with high drive ACDs and want a shadow who is ready to do anything or just chill with a bone, this is your girl!

Wiggles has healed well from her spay and is finally enjoying some physical activity. If you appreciate the real temperament of an ACD, you will really enjoy this one. She is eager to please and always by your side.
