Basic Information

New to OCDRT on 12/6/2014Portia is an adult female who was owner surrendered & we will complete her vetting. She is very sweet, but is shy upon meeting new people. We are working with her to open up and she is showing us she is very willing. She has been introduced to the current pack but currently chooses to ignore them. She is learning crate training, house training, leash manners, foundations skills, and traveling in a vehicle.

ACD experience is required to adopt Portia. Please check back as we get to know her over the next 2 – 3 weeks.

Updates

December 26, 2014

Portia has been with OCDRT for nearly 3 weeks. She has shown she can be 'normal' with her person and loves to go for walks, get lots of attention, and has started to play with toys. She is very reserved around new people and needs to continue to socialize with positive interactions. Portia plays with the resident puppy and has started to play with the adult fosters also. She would prefer a quieter home with lots of adventures to new places. She will be velcro and devote herself to her person of choice. A securely fenced in yard will be a must for safe off leash time.

Portia continues to make progress. She has introduced well to each dog she has met and after a couple days she is comfortable. She is very scared of children and multiple people, so a home with 1 - 2 adults would be preferred. ACD experience is required and shy/timid/fearful dog experience is helpful. She is a gem to those who understand her and can help her progress.

If you are looking for a super velcro, fun, fetching, hiking, hanging on the couch partner, Portia is ready. After you give her the time to bond to you and trust has been achieved, if you are a single woman you don't have to worry about anyone entering your yard or home uninvited. After the fear subsides, she is hard core ACD and her mission is to love and protect her person. Yes she is a challenge but what you get back is priceless.

July 20, 2015
