Basic Information

New to OCDRT on 12/12/2014Jewel is a young adult and a new mother who found herself as a stray and joined other roaming dogs. The Dog Warden was able to capture her and bring her to the shelter with her pups. She is scared but is being a good mom. We will update as she settles in. We will get her basic vetting scheduled & complete all her spay when she is ready.

Please check back as we get to know her over the next 2 – 3 weeks.

Updates

December 24, 2014

Jewel has tested positive for Lyme Disease & Ehrlichia and negative for heartworm. She will be started on a treatment plan. Jewel is also positive for many issues with her GI tract which she is being treated for. She was scared but did well at the vet and weighed in at 32#. She will most likely be moving to OCDRT within the next two weeks. Her pups are started on food now and are doing well.

December 31, 2014

Jewel is now in foster care with OCDRT. She is adjusting and reserved around the pack. We will start her crate training and foundation skills and continue with the leash and house training already started. She will be under treatment for her tick borne diseases for the next 30 days at which time our vet team will re-evaluate her. Jewel will be spayed February 10th along with having a tooth extracted.

January 27, 2015

Jewel is doing very well in her foster home! She is asking the resident female to play with her and she is starting to follow around the resident males and wanting to interact with them. She is even playing in the yard! We are so excited to see her start to interact with the other dogs. She is working on her recall along with other basic commands. Her GI issues are resolved and her antibiotic treatment for Lyme Disease and Ehrlichia will end 1/30. She is not symptomatic for either.
